📝 PDF → Text

Extract all selectable text from a PDF.

🔒 Runs entirely on your device — nothing is uploaded

What is PDF → Text?

Pull the written content out of a PDF so you can edit, quote or analyse it. This tool reads the text layer of your document and gives you the whole thing to copy or download as a plain text file.

How to use PDF → Text

  1. Choose the PDF you want to read.
  2. Click “Extract text” and wait while each page is processed.
  3. Review the extracted text in the box that appears.
  4. Copy it to your clipboard, or download it as a .txt file.

Why use this tool?

Reuse content without retyping

Quote a report, move content into a document, or feed the text into another tool without transcribing it by hand.

Works page by page

Text is extracted in document order with page breaks preserved, so long documents stay readable.

Frequently asked questions

Why did it find no text in my PDF?

Your PDF is almost certainly a scan — a picture of a page rather than real text. Use the OCR tool instead, which recognises characters inside images.

Does it keep the original formatting?

No. This extracts plain text, so columns, tables and styling are flattened into a simple reading order. That is the trade-off for getting clean, editable text.

Are my files uploaded to a server?

No. Every tool on Toolraq runs entirely inside your browser using JavaScript and WebAssembly. Your file never leaves your device — there is no upload endpoint at all. You can verify this yourself by opening your browser’s DevTools Network tab while you use the tool.
